Hardwood

Warmth underfoot,
built for Florida's climate

Why it matters

The part of a hardwood job
most people never see

What separates a floor that lasts from one that cups or gaps within a year.

Acclimation & moisture management
Wood is allowed to acclimate to your home's actual humidity before it's installed, and moisture levels are tested along the way. This is the step most responsible for whether hardwood holds up in Florida's climate.
Solid vs. engineered expertise
Each performs differently in humidity and over different subfloor types. We'll tell you honestly which is the better fit for your specific space, not just what's easiest to sell.
Finish quality
Whether site-finished or prefinished, the sanding, staining, and sealing steps are what determine how the floor wears over the next decade, not just how it looks on day one.

Common questions

Before you reach out

Does hardwood actually hold up in Florida's humidity?
Yes, when it's acclimated and installed correctly. Most hardwood problems in this climate come from skipping the acclimation period or ignoring moisture readings, not from the material itself being wrong for Florida.
Should I choose solid or engineered hardwood?
It depends on your subfloor, the room, and how much humidity fluctuation the space sees. Engineered often handles Florida's climate more predictably, but we'll walk through the tradeoffs for your specific space during your consultation.
How long does a typical hardwood installation take?
Acclimation time alone can take several days before installation even begins. Total timeline depends on square footage and whether the floor is site-finished. We'll give you a realistic schedule once we understand the full scope.
Can I see wood species and finishes in person before deciding?
Yes. Our Fort Myers showroom has hardwood samples staged the way they'll actually look installed, by appointment.
